Hey does anybody know how easy it is to get a part time job with Amtrak as a car attendant? Are there any other interesting jobs you think might be available in DC with Amtrak? Ill be living in DC starting next week, wouldnt mind trying to get a part time job on the weekends with Amtrak but i dont want to be stuck washing dishes in the dining car.

I wouldnt count on getting a "part-time" job Amtrak attendants go all over the country and wake up early. I knew a sleepign car conductor once, and he was a busy guy!

PS. Call 1800USARAIL and ask them for soem kind of employment "hotline" they must know something, since they are an employee.

When I was 6 or 7 years old, there was this one lady(she worked for Amtrak, not shure of what job she had)who was all ways on the San Diago route, and allways had her sock-pupets with her, For the children abored the Train, She was aboud Amtrak South-Bound Trains for the longest time, I'm think she was working part time, cause I never seenher on any of Amtrak's afternoon Trains.

If I head to guess I would say being a 1800USARAIL Operator, or maybe working at a Amtrak station. Dont think the operator job is that bad, you have to know about routes and stuff. But if you really want to be an attendant its a full time job and all over the USA! Inless on like the surfliner.
