I have searched past posts and it looks like bedroom "E" is the preferred one. Since it is next to the stairs and the exit door also comes into play wouldn't "C" be a slightly better choice in terms of overall quiet? Is it just the overall ride in general that makes many people like "E"?
I am travelling on the CZ in September.

Personally, I think comparing rooms is mostly splitting hairs. The differences in location are inconsequential in my experience. The only exception I might make is with room A, which is a little smaller. But some people prefer it because the rest room door is on the other side of the room. With standard rooms there are some distinct advantages and disadvantages with the different levels, but they tend to cancel each other out.

Ray - I agree with Mr. Toy -- it really doesn't make that much difference which room you are in, unless you are concerned about noise from the stairwell, etc., but in my experiences, most sleeping cars are pretty quiet most of the time -- I would more dislike being in a car with a bunch of screaming kids running up and down the aisles.

When I book a deluxe bedroom I always ask for E, and since it is dead centre I think it is smoother riding. Also, about 70% of the time, the sofa faces forward-- the direction I prefer. It also has the advantage of being closest to the stairway, and therefore less dragging of luggage down the corridor. You are also closest to the attendant's service area where the ice, coffee and soft drinks are kept. I have never found it noisy with people going up and down the stairs.
