Just looked over at www.talgo.com to see what was happening...one of the things that the Talgo America website was advertising several months back is now a main feature in pictures: the Talgo 350, the new 220-mph train that's being built for the new Madrid-Barcelona line. The front end looks very bizarre, at least to me; it's got a very duckbill-like appearance. Well, so long as it works...
We'll be lucky to see a Talgo XXI in the US, what with all the politicking over rail At this rate, I'll settle for a dual-platform Talgo Transtech (Finland) double-deck train, which, although not having the same type of wheel arrangement as traditional Talgos, still has the pendualar tilt system (and is a fantasy train of mine for high-speed NY-Chicago service; yes, another pipe dream, but we all have them)...

Yeah, what's the story with the new trains for the midwest? Is that program on hold until the Amtrak situation gets worked out? I thought by now a contract would have been awarded...

I have ridden highspeed trains in Europe often. I never was made to feel dizzy. Top speed for me was 186 mph. It is exciting to ride through a switch on a diversing route at 100 mph and not have your lunch end up in the aisle.
