The question came up a week or so ago about whether it was possible to get a bus into southwestern Colorado to ride the two scenic railroads operating on remnants of the old Rio Grande Narrow Guage lines.
The answer is yes and yes. As we discussed then, TNM&O, a Greyhound Subsidiary, stops in Durango, CO with it's Albuquerque, NM - Grand Junction, CO route.
TNM&O also has a bus from Albuquerque to Pueblo, CO which stops in Alamosa, CO. From Alamosa the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad operates a train on weekends that connects in Antonito, CO with the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. In fact, while Antonito is not a stop for this bus, it drives through Antonito RIGHT BY the station for the scenic railroad.
I found out about this latter bus by accident on Thursday. It drove by me as I was waiting to pull out of the parking lot of the train station in my rental car and I followed it the 30 miles to the bus station in Alamosa!
Gotta go.......one more train to ride today!
