I am considering the sunset limited for late Nov. Is this route gong away. Also far far is the Los Angles airport from the train station.

I dont think its going away, but it needs help.
Los Angeles Union Station is just a bit east from downtown. Los Angeles Int'l Airport is in Marina Del Rey.
It is about a 30-45 minute drive, and there should be some kind of shuttle I belive.

There is a shuttle company (though I can't remember it's name) available at the Los Angeles Airport. They have signs for it in the ground transportation area. You just follow the signs to the appropriate boarding area. A person in a red shirt asks where you're headed and hails the appropriate van for you. The van then loops around the various terminals a time or two until the driver has a full load. Once full the van heads downtown. I did this in July 2002 (when catching the Sunset). Took about 45-50 minutes with a few other stops and cost about $15.00.

Hate to correct you, CoastStar, but LAX is in Westchester. The idle rich in Marina Del Rey would not tolerate the international runways in their little enclave. Now as to getting there from Amtrak, I personally use the Red/Blue/Green Lines to get to LAX from Amtrak Union Station, WITH luggage for just a couple of bucks, as I am averse to paying the $30-50 for shuttles or taxicabs. Maybe if you have heavy luggage, you can take the yellow shuttle vans (Metropolitan) from Amtrak or the cab, if you are not willing to use Red/Blue/Green and then the "G" bus from Aviation to the terminals at LAX. It is a bit intimidating in a way, unless you are big-city savvy. If you DO use the light rail, you will get a nice view of South Central LA on the Blue. Watch for the Watts Towers just below 103rd St. station...
