When was the absolutely FIRST Amtrak train that ran with only Amtrak painted cars and locos (not holdovers from other railroads!)
I remember riding Amtrak trains with Pennsylvania RR (brown) and NY Central (grey and black) cars (still painted on the sides) and with Sante Fe RR Observation cars with
B & M painted baggage cars--all in one train!

The first Amtrak train to get a dedicated consist repainted in the Amtrak scheme was the New York - Chicago 'Broadway Limited'. Amtrak held the standard press reception and scheme unvieling party to mark the event.

I don't remember exactly when that happened (I'm thinking fall 1973 but that's just speculation) but I do recall the event getting a page in Trains Magazines' Railroad News Photos. May not have been the very first time an all-Amtrak scheme consist operated but it was the first time it happened intentionally.

The City of Saint Louis (UP, 1967) is still my standard for passenger operations
