When was the last Desert Wind train run. I used to thoroughly enjoy that run in either direction.

I asked this question a little while ago and got these two timetables. I seem to have lost who I got them from though. Thank you to whoever it was. Forgive me if they're a little hard to read.

Anybody heard any more news on the propsed re-instatement between Los Angeles and Las Vegas? Last I heard they'd sorted out the problem with the environmentalists but the funding crisis brought everything to a halt, but that was 18 months-2 years ago.

All three "major" discussion boards, namely here, railroad.net, and trainorders, all have had extensive discussion regarding proposed LA-LV service.

To summarize: "six feet under".

Article in June 6 LA Times Travel section basically said the same thing (six feet under). The route is being "studied" but don't expect anything soon.

Here are details from the Fall-Winter 1995-96 timetable. By then it was tri-weekly:

On one run my wife and I took from Las Vegas to LA the train was 8 hours late so the train personnel had the train wait at Fullerton and everybody on the train received a free box lunch and cans of Sprite--not bad at all!
