I have heard good things about this place on this forum. Any comments from someone who has stayed there? It is a bit pricey compared to my usual places but would be very convenient for one night between the CS and a cruise. Of course, if the CS is too late it will be a very short night.

It is overpriced, but it is downtown Seattle... {All of downtown Seattle is overpriced}
The room we stayed in was very comfortable. If you have the bucks, I'd recommend it.

Vicki - I have stayed at Pioneer Square Motel several times. It is nice, and not very far from King Street Station. They have a nice little continental breakfast place at the hotel, right off the lobby, and the location is convenient to the Seattle bus network, if you will be doing any sightseeing.

I have also stayed there - reasonable for downtown Seattle. I liked it because I could walk to the pier area for dinner. Although the property is older, it was nicely furnished & everything was in good working order. Breakfast was more than a roll & coffee, which is always a plus. Starbucks also within a short walk, if you need a fix.

I tried to book an overnight stay for transfer from train 7 arriving 06.17 and train 11 departing 06.18 but according to web site they require minium two night stay. Best regards, Rodger

Hillside - I didn't get the two night stay message but I got an endless loop of screens when I tried to book it that never advanced to the booking part. That was on the Best Western site. I went to AAA site and it seems that it will let me book. Just have to check with spouse. The lowest rate is for two single beds. European style, isn't it?
I also checked out the Executive Hotel Pacific. It is about $20 cheaper and not too much further from Amtrak and the port. But there were some recent bad reviews.

Two night stay may be seasonal requirement. I was able to stay only a Saturday night in mid-September (but it was 18 months ago, so things may have changed).

I stayed at the Best Western Pioneer Square for one night this past Thanksgiving weekend. I found the hotel very pleasant. It was an easy walk from the King Street Station. It was after sundown, but I chose to walk the fairly short distance. There were several taxis available at the station if I didn't feel comfortable walking alone in an unfamiliar city by myself,but I didn't have any problems.
The hotel staff was very accommodating. Apparently they had a suite available and offered it to me for the price of my standard room when I checked in. There are a few eating establishments within a few hundred feet of the hotel (Pizzeria, BBQ restaurant, Subway, and an Italian restaurant/bar).
I plan on staying there on my next trip to Seattle.

Thanks for all the advice, I booked the room and hope to get in early enough to take advantage of it. It could be a short night though if the Starlight has problems. This is assuming the current problems are resolved by May.

I have stayed in the hotel 4 times, one night when going up to Canada, then 1 night when coming back the first time; 1 night when going up again last May, and 4 nights after coming back. It's a good hotel with an accommodating staff, and I didn't find it too expensive for a major city; about the same I paid for the Red Roof Inn in DC, and certainly nicer; and cheaper than the Kimpton Hotel I stayed in in Chicago. The breakfast is pretty good, and the location is very very convenient. I am not a fan of the Pioneer Square area--when I got out of it (and away from that God-awful noisy highway down by Alaska Way) is when I started liking Seattle--but it's highly convenient to the train station, and if you are coming in late cannot be beat. EVen though it's kind of walking distance, if it's after dark, I'd take a taxi; the neighborhood has a lot of street people, and you will have luggage too.
