. . . occasionally it seems that English has been "shunted onto a siding" aboard Amtrak, too.

"Zu den Zugen" has always seemed more exciting to me than "To the trains."

Aren't they supposed to be adding a train stop in Michigan at that German kitsch (if one can use that expressions) Frankinsomething? I forget the name of the town . . . anyway, they can use your signs there!

And maybe in Lancaster PA too!! (with a hex sign too!!!)

Frankenmuth isn't in the UP but in northern Lower Michigan. I hope.

Yes, we have too much time on our hands. Retired guys are like that, snuffletruffling up every bit of trivia they can find and posting it on Internet forums.

Henry,
Is it about the middle of the state north and south and eastern across. (if that makes any sense) ? I think my brain is out in the snow somewhere.

Frankenmuth is actually a little ways SE of Saginaw -- they put on a great Oktoberfest, and a Bavarian Festival in June (I used to go there when I lived in Michigan)

I forgot the name of the rather famous chicken restaurant in F'muth thet everybody likes to go to.
