The article details the installation of a 2/3-mile long maglev line in Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. The train is supposed to max out at only 40 mph (but consider the length of the line). Is this the face of future intercity passenger rail...? (Remember, these are the trains that can keep up with the airliners...)

"The $14-million project is a partnership between American Maglev, Dominion Virginia Power, Lockheed Martin, ODU and a number of other private companies. The state also kicked in $7 million, which is to be repaid with revenue from future American Maglev projects."
