I'm writing a book about derailments and I need pictures. Does anyone have indepth information about the derailment in Alabama in September of 1993 and if you have pictures of the wreck please give your name and permission to use them in my book. I will give you full credit in the book for pictures in which I use. Thanks, The Sheriff

The NTSB website has publically available reports of many accidents, including this one. Have a browse, you'll find it there.

Watch out for people with a nervous disposition saying "why do you want to know about derailments?". The chances of being able to copycat this particular accident are next to nowt.

Wasn't the Amtrak derailment a copycat of the sabatoge of the City of San Francisco in Nevada in 1939? As I recall there were a number of similarities.

Mr. Toy, I believe the "copycat" derailment you are referring to was the one in Arizona on the former Sunset route somewhere west of Phoenix. The derailment in Alabama would have been the one involving a barge hitting a railway bridge causing the Sunset Ltd. to fall into a bayou.

I stand corrected. I think somehow I merged the two Sunset events in my mind.
