i am a big giants fan. i just read on their web site an article from the new york post i believe. the article states that since 1999 the giants started to use the train again for travel. they started out in 1999 with a trip to baltimore. this year they have 3 trips planned on amtrak[balt-wash-boston] the platers they interviewed raved how much they like the train compared to flying and wished they could take the train to all their games. head coach jim fassel and owner wellington m,ara also gave great comments. hope this spreads to other teams with short trips.

The Copper Country Limited [Milwaukee Road] and the Peninsula 400 [CNW} still my favorites

With the average size NFL linemen being about 6'5" 300+ lbs, I'm sure they appreciate the extra wide seats & leg room, as well as being able to move about the train.
Amtrak should not discount the possiblity of using these pro athletes in a commercial showing some of the benefits of train travel.
Much of the American public are huge sports fans and if even a small % decided to give the train a try it would increase revenue and maybe even create a powerful friend in the NFL to run interference against the poor decision making that often comes out of our elected officials with respect to funding Amtrak.

Good Point about the extra room for linemen, but you also have to take in to account the fact Football teams have a whole week in between games giving them the ability to take a long train ride.
You'll never see a baseball team ride a train again unless the team has a day off the next day, even then, teams have day practices in baseball and have to be at the stadium early so both teams can practice.
Although you could see it with teams in the East, with the high speed Acela Express.

Long train rides would not work for football teams either because they spend most of the week practicing for the game.
I'm out here on the left coast so I don't know if this is true, but I heard that the Mets &/or Phillies have used Amtrak between NY & Philadelphia.
