HI Im taking my Scout troop from NYC to Kissimmee this winter on the Silver Star- a trip we run every 4 years.
We find the experience is great for the kids and the Amtrak staff is very accomodating.
Is anyone aware of any changes that occurred in any area during the past few years.

One of my most memorable trips was with the Scouts- Rochester to El Paso. Tons of Nintendo. Recently, Amtrak's group pricing scheme has changed with a heftier discount. I don't know if this is new or not, but the group reservation telephone number is (800) 872-1477. We did a good job- there are scattered reports of Scouts on the way to or from Philmont by way of the Raton, NM station and horror stories. Please don't be one of those- I know this type of group can go either way.
