I want to have a new name when I post. Not to hide anything. I just think I could have been more creative when I first signed on. I tried to create a new account. I got a message that said someone already was using my IP or something. I figured it's me, that's all. So then I wrote management asking the webmaster for instructions. No reply. You guys all have fun and interesting handles. I want one too.

Slightly off topic, I know. But yer advice will be welcome.

Dave

Will changing your name make the world a better place? Will a name change help Amtrak's on-time performance? I always thought your forum name was ok until you said it wasnt.

Dave - you could always be anonymous and choose a name which is the name of some AMTRAK engine or train -- (gee, what an original idea!!) Hah!

How about calling yourself "American Orient Express" or "The Lark" -- hah!! No, no -- how about "Bullet Train"?

In response to your questions:

1) No.
2) No.
3) Thank you for saying so, but I still would like a more creative, railfan-oriented name to use here in the RailForums.

Dave,
How about "Spike Puller"?

I've never received a response either. If you try again and are unsuccessful, maybe you could go to a public library or cyber cafe to use a different PC.

If you have nothing to hide, Mr. Sommer, such as unauthorized use of "the boss'" computer system, what's wrong with posting under your given legal name as you apparently do at present?

It's the only way I post at any of the three message boards with which I have membership.

Wow! Thanks for the suggestions! Hey, were some of you making fun of me, too?

Well, Gilbert I don't have any problem with using my regular same old name. None at all. And I got nuttin to hide. Just thought I could have a more fun name. You know, fun!

Well, I always liked Amtrak's Montrealer most of all. How about "60-61"?

Other ideas:

ShooFly

Silver Poster

Rip Track (Dead Line?)

Track 9 1/2

Bannermans Castle

Sand Dome ('Cause I'm bald) (And my thoughts are... How do I say it? Disparate?)

Hump Retarder

The Old & Wobbly

The Westchester Boston

The Put (Alternate moniker for the NYC Putnam Division. It saw its last passenger train in the late '50s andt was abandoned entirely in the late '60s. It's now a paved bicycle path.)

20th Century, you honor me with your suggestions. I don't deserve those!

Actually, being as sarcastic as I am, maybe "The Lark" is a good name!

Dave

Dave, to answer your first question..... Yes....
But it's not my fault.....

I'm a Texan.

Posted by dnsommer (Member # 2825) on :

We make your beans and chili, according to the TV commercial. When the Texans find out, they spit it out.

Dave

Dave:
No Texan eats beans and chili out of a can.....

That's just the basic raw ingredient. We always add the "spice", be it peppers, venison, quail, 1015 onions, mesquite flavored bacon, etc.

Speaking of beans and chili, how about "Toot Toot" for your "new name".....

Do you know, here it is three days later and I just got the "toot toot" joke. You made a disguised reference to noisy flatulence!

Fart be it from me to comment any further.

BTW, what are "1015" onions? Are they dangerous? Has the President eaten them too?

Well Dave.... It is a long way to NY from our frozen coastal plains... Geez... We got down to 35 yesterday morning, and it only warmed up to 62 in the afternoon.... Yep winter has arrived.....

Sorry... got side-tracked (Amtrak reference).

3 days from here to NY isn't too bad.... That's a typical train trip.

And 1015 onions are semi sweet, very tasty onions that were developed by Texas A&M... Yep, the Aggies had to name their onions for the date that they should be planted (october 15 of each year). Aggies need to keep things simple.... :P

And I'm bettting BIG bucks that the President has eaten LOTS of them!
BTW, President Bush #41 buys his Jalapeno peppers by the gallon at Sam's Club.
