I live in Australia, and have visited the US a few times, and each time I did I took Amtrak for some of my trip. The Coast Starlight one time, the Empire Builder the next time, etc. And I really enjoyed these trips.

The thing thing is though, I'd like it if there was an Amtrak for me to ride on the next time I go to America. Since I don't live in the US, sending an email to my state Senator isn't the most practical solution. So who can I get in contact with to express my opinion on keep Amtrak on track?

I think you should contact the State Department as well as Amtrak itself, who might use your letter for publicity of some sort. I also think you should write to the local newspapers of places you saw on your travels that you might never have visited were it not for the trains, and which you either stopped in or are considering coming back to--places that would otherwise have just been "flyover states" for you . . .

Might not hurt to contact the elected representatives of states you have visited or plan to visit. Senators are always interested in generating tourist dollars.
