I'm going to have to drive from FL to NOL this time to catch the City as the Sunset is still "temporarily annulled to FL". Could someone who has riden the City int he past year tell me whether the regular sleeper (not the crew sleeper) is now located ahead of the diner or at the rear of the train. I know awhile back they stuck it on the rear which required a long walk through the coaches.

When I traveled on the City of New Orleans this past October, the sleeping car was coupled to the tail end of the train.

I drove from Ocala, FL to NOL in late November to catch the CONO to Chicago. At that time, the sleeper brought up the rear of the train.

Since that time, however, Amtrak has been experimenting with the placement of the sleeper elsewhere in the consist due to the fact that #58 continues on from CHI as #21 (Texas Eagle).

Mayube someone who rode #58 in the last month or so can weigh in on this.

Rode it at the end of January. Consist was trans dorm, sleeper, diner, lounge, 2 coaches. Attendent said he thought it would stay that way. I prefer it at the end to look out the rear but is nice to be near the diner.

I was on the CONO March 8 in Memphis---the Sleeper was located directly behind the transition sleeper which was next to the engine.

It was the same on our trips in February.

Thanks everyone. That's good news for my next trip in May. I like being by the diner rather than having to pass through the coaches. I will be traveling NOL-CHI-ABQ then return from ABQ to ATL via CHI and WAS.
