Is there a place to eat at the Sanford Auto-Train Station?

Not the present setup; not sure about the new one going up. When GBN and I met, we wound up having lunch in "downtown" Sanford. I believe there is a shuttle bus to take you from the Autotrain station to downtown for eats and the like while you're waiting for your train to leave.

There may be a couple fast food restaurants on Highway 46, just north of Auto Train. But Auto Train is not really located near downtown Sanford -- it is on the west side of town.

RRRICH, we're not talking a big city here. It's just a few minutes to the "strip" of W. French Ave. where the usual chains of food emporiums congregate. I took "place to eat" to mean other than an upscale fine dining experience, and I put "downtown" in quotes to kind of imply that.
