Checked Amtrak status maps the past couple days due to a friend traveling north on train #98 (13). His train reached Philadelphia about45 minutes EARLY. However, the opposing Silver Meteor 97(12) was over 4 hours late into Florida after being stuck behind a disabled freight in NC then clipping an auto in SC...the driver and car disappeared only to be found at the driver's home minus much of the car! Northbound 98 (14) is currently well over 4 hours late south of Savannah as it was stuck waiting out a wildfire along the railway in Volusia County, FL near DeLeon Springs. I don't know where they waited but the train was on-time at its stop in Winter Park then 5 hours tardy at DeLand. # 92 is about 1 1/2 hours late as it would have reached the scene when the fire was out or about out.

There probably was a back up for 92. Was it single track.

Yes I also saw the 4-hr late Silver Meteor passing through Maitland, FL on Friday PM while I was stopped at the bank across the road from the tracks

Which brings ip something else -- how has the CONO been doing lately in spite of the floods on the Mississippi River?
And what about the Crescent through tornado-ravaged Alabama and Mississippi?
