Does anyone know if Caltrain's bi-level cars are equipped with rest rooms? My only experience with Caltrain was on the old single level cars, which were not so equipped.

The reason I ask is because Caltrain will be extended to Salinas in a couple of years, and I don't hear anything about using anything other than current equipment. The trip from Salinas to San Francisco will be two and a half to three hours long. During that time somebody is certain to need a rest room.

Mr. Toy, I believe restrooms are now on board, but can't say for sure because I never needed them. I can't imagine the cars would be compliant with current laws if they lacked restrooms.

A railfan trip is a different issue; however; I recently rode on a trip in Riverside County, 2 hours each way, with no facilities. But that was not a "common carrier" train; it was mostly old equipment (50+ years old) that was never retrofitted.
