Hello,

I am looking for some information and was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I am doing research on trains and I need to know how many passenger trains there are in the U.S. as well as how many people ride these trains daily and how long the average ride is. I also need to find the same information for subway systems in the U.S.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mike Sheppard

Mr. Sheppard,
These kinds of requests make us (those who read/write in these forums) a bit nervous...why do you ask?

I think cautious would be a better term to use, but if this is legit, we'll try to help

As the information requested is publically available, no problem directing you to
http://www.narprail.org/amstat.htm

You can find pages like this yourself simply by searching. For the above, I searched Google for "amtrak passenger statistics". You can try something similar for subways...
