Wings & Rails International Expeditions invites you to ride the rails of the uniquely preserved and historical narrow gauge Esquel Branch. Tour starts in exciting Buenos Aires one of South America’s most fascinating cities. Then, fly to the fabulous ski resort and jet setter destination of Bariloche. Then it is off to the lonely and almost forgotten Old Patagonian Express for nine days tour with six narrow gauge steam train charters. This is a chance to see the Argentinean Andes, late winter snows and fabulous scenery. This tour is designed for the serious railfan photographer and limited sightseeing events.

Oct 17, Saturday- Independent arrivals to Buenos Aires, Argentina. PM visit to the Retiro Stations (three Stations serving Buenos Aires commuters). Welcome dinner in Buenos Aires. Overnight in Buenos Aires. D

18, Sunday- Morning flight to Bariloche. Afternoon tour of the Lake District and lunch. Bus transfer to El Bolson. Overnight in El Bolson. B, L

19 Monday- Bus ride to El Maiten. Steam charter Train on La Trochita (750mm/2 foot 51/2 in gauge) from El Maiten to Cerro Mesa one way. The train will stay at Cerro Mesa. Photo runbys will be made on the trip. Bus returns to El Bolson. Overnight in El Bolson. B/L

20, Tuesday- Morning bus rides from El Bolson to Cerro Mesa. Steam charter train on La Trochita from Cerro Mesa to Ing. Jacobacci with photo runbys en route. Overnight at Ing. Jacobacci. B/L/D

21, Wednesday- Steam charter train returning from Ing. Jacobacci to El Maiten. Limited number of photo runbys will be made due to time restrictions. Overnight in El Bolson B/L

22, Thursday- Depart steam charter train from El Maiten for a one-way trip on La Trochita to Esquel with photo runbys en route. Bus transfer from Esquel station to Hotel. Overnight. In Esquel B/L

23, Friday- Morning on short steam charter Esquel to Nahuel Pan and return. Afternoon free. Overnight in Esquel. B

24, -Saturday- Depart Esquel on steam charter to return to El Maiten. Bus transfer from El Maiten to Bariloche. Overnight in Bariloche. B/L

25, Sunday – Depart flight Bariloche to Buenos Aires to make connection with international flight. Independent departures to home destinations. B

Air transportation to/from Buenos Aires not included


The above 9 day tour includes all ground transportation, hotels, meals and train tickets in Argentina and one internal air ticket. Passengers must arrange independent air transport to Buenos Aires, Argentina and return to home destination.
