I'm building the G-scale Penobscot and Pee Dee Railroad in my back garden. About half the roadway will be thru dense vegetation. To keep the roadway open, I plan to build a right-of-way mower car. I'll convert a gondola by putting two motors on their sides in the bottom of the car, poking the shaft of one thru the left side and that of the other thru the right. On the end of each shaft I'll mount a 7" carbon fibre propeller and, on the top edge of the forward end wall, a flashing red LED. That oughtta be fun to rig up and--if I operate it on a cycle in synch with the growth--it might even work!

Both the motors and LED are 24V, so I can't power the rig with a battery (too heavy). So, it's track power (which is preferred because I'd like to turn the mowers (and LED) on/off with a DCC decoder). But I haven't a clue how to pick up track power in a car that's not wired at the factory!!

There are so many clever things offered in catalogs, etc. Does anyone know an outfit that makes pick-up trucks? Or some other gizmo that does the job?

Failing the above, can anyone tell me how to do-it-myself?

Thanks for your time and attention,

Malcolm Stewart
