The Golden Empire Historical and Modeling Society will host their annual model train show at the Kern County Fairgrounds, 1142 South `P' Street, Bakersfield, on March 10 and 11.

The train show will be open on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is $7.00 per person, with children ages 12 and below admitted free, when accompanied by a paying adult. The one-time admission charge is good for both days of the show.

There will be 118 vendor tables and 7 operating model train layouts on display,
hourly door prizes and a drawing for a model train set.

For more information about the show, please call (661) 331-6695, email carldw@aol.com or visit the Society's web site at www.gehams.net .

GEHAMS also will host a layout open house on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM.
The club boasts two large layouts, one each in HO and N scale. Digitrax DCC powers both layouts.

The HO layout is approximately 30 feet wide and 100 feet long. Two large yards are located at each end of the layout, with several industries located in between. The layout is a work-in-progress, but operational.

The N scale layout is 18 feet wide and 80 feet long and includes a scaled-down version of the Tehachapi Loop. The club has extensive scenery work in progress. Anyone who models in N scale is welcome to bring their decoder-equipped locomotives and run them along the fifteen scale miles of mainline from Bakersfield to Mojave.

The club is located on the second and third floors at 1534 19th Street in downtown Bakersfield.
