Although the old CSW layout survived the move to our new home, I found the old layout to bulky and cumbersome

. A friend of my eldest son really liked the layout, so I gave it to him, lock, stock and barrel!! In one evening "my old friend" had disappeared from my life...but a new modeler has been born in the kid I gave the layout to

!! What about a new layout?? Well I have started planning a layout that will actually sit on shelving that was already in my garage...and I will actually get more running room out of it

!!
Any advice on building ON an existing shelf would of course be appreciated. Although I prefer open framework, the presence of the shelfs was too tempting. Happy Modeling!!

Hey Bird! Glad to hear things have moved forward...before you know it the board with cork will be an empire!! For now my thinking is to stay in HO, although N would give me lots of running room, and I could actually unpack my N gauge stuff! My wife hinted that she may buy me the new HOn30 stuff from Bachmann for Christmas. Since there are actually four tiers of shelves, maybe I can build three scales on each tier!! Who knows, the sky is the limit

!! If I stay with HO, I will stay with the same era and setting since I didn't give away any engines, rolling stock or buildings...just the basic pike. The kid is happier than a pig in @#$! and I expect I will soon be helping him run the railroad at his place, or at least teaching him the basics. Happy Modeling!!
