I've drywalled all the walls around a new train room, but not taped it. If I use floor underlayment paper and then the back side of linoleum (or vinyl) rolls for the RR sky to be painted upon, do I need to tape, mud and sand the joints & screw dimples? (The bottom part not seen will be wainscoat panel). Is linoleum (or vinyl) a good backdrop solution?

Harold, If you plan to use floor covering on the wall you don't really have to finish the dry wall. I tried it once over a cinder block wall and didn't like it ,all the lines came through. I took it down and used 1/8" masonite. If it were me I probably would just finish the dry wall and paint that for my back drop!!

Andy: Thanks for the help. When you said the lines shown through, do you mean it was the joints in the cement blocks or the pattern onthe back of the linoleum?

It was the motar lines in the block work.
