hey evryone out there. Just finished painting my U-28b and SW7. I was wondering how many locomotives you have in your colection? For me I only have 7 locos and only 4 are powered. Is it a good idea to have a lot ove locomotives on hand? my layou is only 4x8 feet(lookin at adding a 4x4 foot section for a small yard. I heard one guy said he had 33 locomotives on his layout. oh well i guess a small layout and limited funds are holding me back. I just finished a major paint job of all my locomotives and rolling stock. I now model Chessie system (CSX) does anyone else model chessie or csx. got to love the chessie paint schemme.
thank you for your help and keep model railroading alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Shaun.
My collection has a total of 57 locomotives. Both Steam and diesel. I have about 8 locomotives that are not powered, but will be soon. I find that an all powered locomotive roster leads to unlimited flexibility in making power assignments.
As for how many locomotives to have on hand. That is a matter of choice. Going by what is typical for a layout of your size, one is all that is really needed, but having around three is really nice. Any past that is gravy.
I model alot of things. But the only CSX trains I model is the Amtrak Auto Train and the Tropicana Juice Train.

Well...it will depend on who you ask. Some people say I have to many and I guess I am the only one whom says, "I don't have enough."
My collection continues to grow as I add OO to my set and display collection.
Here are a couple of my favorites!
