As an aussie railroader/railfan, I am curious as to the effects upon US railfanning in view to the AAR notice to US rail employees subsequent to the September 11 th tragedy. Reporting "suspicious" persons and vehicles at crossings and along the right-of-way; 25 to 25 year old males interested in specific railroads and resorces; etc. Have there been any situations arise where railfans have been required to move on, even if on public land ? I am aware that certain US rail companies have a negative railfan attitude, and am wondering if this attitude might be spreading. Bush bloke (steve)

Well, Im a very serious railfan in the US. I put almost 40,000 miles a year on my car just chasing trains. Ive actully noticed crews for freight RR getting nicer, but Amtrak crews are ruder and not willing to tall to railfans. We're not getting "repoted to the cops " yet or anthing like that ,not that Ive noticed. But I do my best to stay out of thier way and I dont normally sit in any one place long enough. Steven
