This info is for any fans on the southern half of the former SP Coast Line in CA.
Here are some key postings on the progress of this unusual train today(5-11 to 5-12):
I just heard this about this train on the radio and did the UP Trace and it says this train has a destination of Oxnard CA. The UP Trace says this train originated in Stockton CA.
Is this a new train symbol of some kind??
I do not know of any regular train that comes west off of Altamont Pass and heads down the SP Coast Line. The regular trains usually go to and from Oakland or Milpitas/Warm Springs. By the way, UP DS 58 said this train was by Altamont CA as of 253PM.
Thank you in advance for any info!

I believe this is a ribbon rail train
This train (UP 3185 S) just got the track warrant to proceed south from Warm Springs CA on the Milpitas line at 2230(1030PM). This means the train should clear downtown San Jose CA by about 1135PM.
The train will then join the higher speed Coast Line just north of the San Jose Amtrak-Caltrain station and should make better running time southbound then.

THe UP 3185 south just released the track warrant for the former SP Milpitas line as of 0011 or 1211AM. This means the train is now on the (SP)Coast mainline and should be
just south of the San Jose CA Amtrak/Caltrain station.
