I saw the westbound Lake Shore Limited out of Boston today with a single Genesis in the lead. Has anyone else been observing the Boston section of the Lake Shore and how long has it been assigned the "new" power?

Hi CV.. I took the westbound lakeshore out of Springfield on 3/4 and I'm pretty sure it was only being pulled by a single Genesis. Back in November, however, they were running Two Genesis locomotives on the Boston section. On the Eastbound section, a computer glitch caused one of the engines to lose HEP, and we were travelling with only one of the units working, so there were two. (When we met up with the Westbound LSL they fixed the problem.) When they switched over from one Genesis to two, I'm not sure.. sometime between Thanksgiving and March 4th!!

Thanks for the info! Do you have any idea when they switched from the F40's on the Lake Shore?

The westbound Boston section had a Genesis unit with the new Amtrak paint scheme on WED. 4/4.

Wow! A LSL Genesis had the new color scheme?? Nice.. I can't wait to see that. I was unaware it had been repainted.

As far as them no longer using F-40's, I'm not quite sure.. my memory fails me. A year ago this time, there was atleast one F-40, the third of 2 genesis loco's. That's just a guess. If they were still using one this fall, once again, I'm not sure

I threw out the idea in the Amtrak forum of having sections dedicated to specific Amtrak trains. Check it out!

Amtrak did replace the older fp40 with the genisis cause the lakeshore went by here and had 2 genisis in frount
