If you're belting along the Northeast Corridor and the dispatcher decides to switch your train onto another track, what is the sequence of signal aspects you would see (assume 110mph linespeed and a 45mph crossover)?

In my experience watching signels when your a block away from the switches, you get a red over yellow signel telling you to expect a crossover, and when you get to crossover the tower will give you a red over flashing green signel to tell you switch is open. Hope this helps.

The aspects for your 45mph crossover would be Clear - Green, Approach Limited - Yellow over flashing Green and Limited Clear - Red over flashing Green over Red or just Red over flashing Green depending on teh type of signal used.

I can tell you guys are back east because I have never seen a flashing green out here although my signal aspect of by 1995 AT&SF timetable lists a yellow over flashing green. Usually around here I see a red over green on the mainline or flashing red when a train is going into the yard.
