I was thinking about taking a trip on Amtrak via New Orleans through Mississippi and/or Alabama--stopping overnight at some midway point. Has anyone traveled through on the City of New Orleans, Crescent, or Sunset Limited? Are these routes particularly scenic? Are there any points midway worth stopping at? Thanks!

What is your point of origin / destination?
What are your interests?
What types of scenery are of interest or different from your normal?

Without these any answer would be difficult, and probably miss the target.
