In case anyone is wondering, you can paint the black-and-white drawings on the "Railroad Paintshop" site with virtually any paint or graphics software (including the one that probably came free with your computer).

Generally, you can use the same software to crop and resize/resample those large drawings so they'll fit with the cars and locomotives available on the two Screensaver/Large Train Gif sites I mentioned. Then you can assemble "consists" by creating a blank Word for Windows document, giving it a black background, and clicking "insert," followed by "picture," and then "file," adding one car at a time. Unless, of course, you want to download the Screensaver program and create trains that move.

The last time I checked, I'd assembled my own Lake Shore Limited, Pennsylvanian, and Coast Starlight, not to mention an Amtrak "Rainbow Era" train, a couple of New York Central and Santa Fe trains, plus a freight train that's something like 200 cars long.

It's very addictive. But it's time to go cold turkey, I think. And reclaim my dignity!
