Jonathon, I have to agree with you. The F59PHI with it's sloped nose and rounded edges in front is less boxy in appearance than the 'Genesis' series. And I do love the Bombadier/Alstom Acela locomotives but the enourmous vents (?) on the sides take away from an otherwise sleek and elegant appearance. As far as paint schemes this is my favorite on the F59PHI:

Electric: GG-1
Diesel: E-8/9 with single headlight.
Other: The French RTG Turboliner, for its uniqueness.

You mean you couldn't tell?

First place (tie): F40PH #207 and P42DC #207.
Second place: The phase 3 Rohr turbos. They were cool and I grew up watching them.
Third place: Ex-B&O E-8 (488?) repainted to the original and shortest-lived locomotive to wear Amtrak 207.
Fourth place: Pepsi cans before they were repainted. That was the most spontaneous thing Amtrak did for 15 years and they looked good.

Dead last: (another tie) UA turbos, and SDP40Fs.

I would put SDP40F's above F40's,if only because they didn't last too long. I liked the phase one scheme. The worst is the Shamu scheme.
