Now I know Purdue University is in West Lafayette, Indiana. Isnt there a Train station there as well. The Cardinal goes by that staion on its way to Chicago right. Is the Station close to Purdue's Campus?

Uncle Buck - the Cardinal actually stops in Lafayette, not West Lafayette. Lafayette is across the Wabash River from West Lafayette. The Lafayette station is relatively new (last 5-6 years), and is a very pretty station located on the bank of the river -- I'd say it's probably a couple miles from the Purdue campus (easy taxicab ride)
The old Lafayatte station was located on a major downtown street (maybe 5th Avenue?), and the Cardinal, as well as all the former Monon Route trains which served the area, traveled right down the middle of the street! (I went to college at DePauw, in Greencastle, IN, and used to take the Monon Route home to Chicago for the holidays back in the 60's!)

The "old Lafayette station was the Lahr Hotel, and the train stopped in the middle of the street to do station work. It was fun. I'll miss the street running.
The new station is the product of many years of hope, dreams, and work by Lafayette citizens interested in getting track out of the streets. Both NS (former WAB) and CSX (former MON) run past, in case somebody might someday want to revive the Wabash Cannonball.
