Trains.com just reported that A coach on Amtrak's train 30, the eastbound Capitol Limited from Chicago to Washington, D.C., derailed at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday at Northwood, abotu four miles east of Toledo on Norfolk Southern's Chicago-to-Clevland line. Two injuries were reported.
The crew felt the train lurch after crossing the CSX diamond, according to Amtrak spokesman Cliff Black. The lead truck of the eighth car, coach 34037, derailed. The two locomotives and first seven cars we're cut away from the trai and proceeded eastbound at 2:13 a.m. Christmas Day. The rest of the consist- the derailed coach behind it, and six express cars - remained until the truck could be rerailed. The equipment was then moved to Toledo. All passengers, including the two treated for minor injuries, stayed onboarded.
