Murder on the Orient Express, the all-star adaptation of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Calais Coach (called Murder on the Orient Express in some editions, I believe) is now out on DVD. Well, perhaps it was before, but if so, it had gone out of print and has now come back. Anyway, it's a film I think many rail fans would likely enjoy seeing, and the DVD special features do have a little info about how the train aspect of it was filmed (as well as a lot more other info about Agatha Christie, the cast, the adaptation, and the directing--my favorite was the info about how Albert Finney got his makeup done . . . . ) I enjoyed it.

Gilbert N, your mention of Wagon Lit reminded me that I had just seen this. I would love to be on a Wagon Lit--pronounced Wagon LEE (though maybe not in Spain?). The company is I believe Belgian, not French--just like Poirot--in fact, in the book, the friend Poirot runs into at the Istanbul hotel is a fellow Belgian, though in the film that is changed to Italian (Martin Balsam's role).

This film is 30 years old. (1974) I dont think that should be categorized as "new".

Why do you have like 7 threads going?

Geesh, I meant, it's new on DVD (I think). It was never on DVD before. And I enjoyed it.

BTW, I also enjoyed another train-related film, The Station Agent, which IS fairly new.

I posted the threads because I don't get on line much any more and have a lot of questions about different trips I'm planning this fall and next spring. I didn't think I should ask them all in one post, since they involve different routes.

Why do you ask?

I heard that one was good...sad but good.

Disaster on the Coastliner is great..just a bit old.

Atomic train is terrible.
