My son and I are riding out on the Chief this June and want to see Disneyland.
We plan to de-train at Fullerton and go from there. My question is , would it be cheaper to take a cab from Fullerton to our motel near Disneyland , or the commuter train ?
I actually like the idea of the cab because it would take us directly to the motel. Otherwise we will have to go to Anaheim and then take a cab to the motel.
Which of the two options would be cheapest ?

Where about is your Motel? The Fullerton Train Station is just off North Harbor BLVD near the 91 Freeway. From the Anaheim Station, a cab ride to the resort area is about $8.50. If you don't have a ton of baggage, you can take Orange County Transit straight from the Fullerton Station to your motel if it's on Harbor--the 43 Bus goes right down Harbor Blvd for $1. But if your dead set on taking a cab, then your best bet is to take a commuter train down to Anaheim and take a cab. Depending on the commuter train schedule, you might save time and money by taking the bus from Fullerton. It's a pretty short trip (1/2 hour or so).

Our motel is called the Candy cane Inn. If I remember correctly it IS on Harbor Blvd. I stayed there on a solo trip out last year and really liked both the motel itself and its location.
My only concern about taking public transportation is the fact that my son and I will both have at least two pieces of luggage---in that we are crossing the country.
I think our best option may be taking a commuter train to Anaheim and then "cabbing" it from there to the Inn.
I presume the rail fare from Fullerton to Anaheim will not be too expensive since it is a relatively short trip.

The Candy Cane Inn-good motel. I've stayed there before--it's right next door to the entrance. It will be about a $5 train trip and 8 to 9 dollar cab ride. I haven't had much luck in Anaheim. There have never been cabs there when I've gone. I had to call for one.
