I'm lazy and don't feel like searching.

You really need to do some searching. Rates change with occupancy. I stayed at the Lenox Suites a week ago and got a rate of $96.00 (Before taxes) but it's as high as $135.00 this week. While it's not "near" Union Station (I walked to State Street and took the Red Line to Grand. Two block walk from there.), it is in a great location just two blocks from Michigan Avenue on Rush.

I had a great time in Chicago. I even got down to the Museum of Science and Industry to tour the original Zephyr trainset.

Here's an interesting place to stay:

I actually stayed there once. I'm not sure how close it is to Union Station but it doesn't cost very much money.

It's easy to get great deals on Priceline. Of course yo can't be sure what hotel you'll be getting, but as an example, I got the Hyatt Regency for $55/nt. It's pretty far fromt he train station, but at that rate, you can afford a cab.

I think to get something close to the train station, you would pick the "loop" and three stars.
