Im trying to book a trip from the west coast to DC via the empire builder and the cardinal, but the system will not let me change to the cardinal, only to the capitol limited. for example, i can book a one way from chicago to dc on the 14th of january on the cardinal, but when i try to book the whole trip (builder, changing to the cardinal on the 14th in chicago), the cardinal doesnt appear as an option.

weird.

Did you check your departure date for the Cardinal to see if it is indeed one of the days it runs?

w/b Sun Wed Fri

Maybe instead of using the SPO-WAS as one leg, but use 'Mulit'City' bookings and do it SPO-CHI then CHI-WAS would work?

Good luck...:-)

You can do it on the Multi City page. Enter Jan 13 SPK-CHI in the first segment and then Jan 14 CHI-WAS in the second segment. Coach fare $137.

Odd that the direct option does not come up.
