I just booked on the Sunset Limited from Los Angeles and I have a few questions.

I like to visit small towns on Amtrak, such as Chemult, Oregon on the Coast Starlight.
I have never been on any other long distance route besides the #14/11.

I have decided to go to Lordsburg, NM which is a flag stop after Benson, AZ. #2 is scheduled to stop at 5:20Am.
Q) Should I be safe and let the conductor know immediatly in the morning (I will probably wake up around 5am) to make sure the stop is not missed or will he deffinetly see us on the maniefst?

Q) It seems as if there is only one sleeper for the SSL part of the train, where is car #30 located?

Q) Lordsburg seems like a desert town that does not get much tourism besides motorists passing though on the 10. What kind of railfan stuff or other intereasting things are there to do? We are staying 2 nights since the Sunset only comes 3x weekly.

Q) On the Amtrak site it says this is an Unstaffed station, but it has these very limited station hours..who is at the station?

Any other info for this part of the route is much appreciated!

Thanks,
Anton

I shouldn't laugh to loud, that is more than we have.

How will you get to your hotel from the station?
I've been to Lordsburg a few times and it is out in the middle of no where land. The scenery is beautiful.

There are two motels on near the station, the others are far away. The two are very close so we can just walk.

I did see that station pic, hopefully they have done something about those pidgeon droppings in the "waiting area".

Car 0230 is located between the transition dorm and diner. Yes you should tell the conductor because some of these conductors are very busy and forget things.
