Anyone have the inside dope on when Amtrak might be open for business again to New Orleans ? I'm driving there next month - eagerly awaiting the line being fixed next trip/next year ! Thanks, steve in so az

Have not heard anything specific, but don't hold your breath. Rita probably did in some of the track in the Beaumont to Lake Charles, and possibly east thereof area. So it will not just be New Orleans, but the the portions west thereof that were damaged by Rita. This area just is not the big news area that New Orleans is.
