The Coast Starlight is doing awful because of the Pacific Storm during the last week.

The Southbound Starlight which was suppose to get in last night at 9:00PM arrived this evening at 10pm according to Amtrak.com

(25 hours late!)

The CS is turning into the Sunset Limited the last months and if rain is like last year here in California. Amtrak will have serious delays.

I know and this was once Amrtak's flagship train. [Frown] But then again the Sunset was never 25 hours late.

There was once instance during the most recent UP service meltdown (9 or 10 months ago) of the Sunset arriving in LAX 43 hours late. I remember it's 'progress' being tracked on the forum.

Advocating for passenger trains since 1973!

Climbing toward 5,000 posts like the Southwest Chief ascending Raton Pass. Cautiously, not nearly as fast as in the old days, and hoping to avoid premature reroutes.

good news! todays coast starlight arrived in sac at 11:45 am, only 5 and a half hours late, and they held the zephyr so passengers were able to make a same day connection between the two trains. im keeping my fingers crossed that ill be able to do the same on the 7th. wish me all luck!

"Folks were making good time today, were just under six hours behind schedule."

Hopefully things will bouce back soon since the rain has gone for now here in California.
