I know for most AMTRAK trains, being 3 hours late is no big deal, and is actually more "normal". But according to the AMTRAK "Train status" page, the SWC, #4, was almost 3 hours late into CHI yesterday, which is rather unusual for the SWC -- usually it arrives early. Any idea what happened?

I heard they were doing upgrades on the SWC trainset so they used a Sunset trainset as a fill in.

gp35 ---- LOL

No idea of what happened. However I have riden this train twice a year for several years (WMJ -CHI) and only once has it been late more than a few minutes. That one time it was weather related.

They had a new engine and it took a wrong turn out of Lamy?

Could it somehow be related to the freight train crash in California and rerouting of Amtrak trains there?

Not likely. The crash was at Madera, which is 20 miles north of Fresno in the Central Valley oc California.

Ha-ha-ha -- thanks for the dry humor, everyone......... a wrong turn out of Lamy, eh, David? Right..............

I just hope this is not a common occurrence, since we will be taking the SWC on our trip next month and will be connecting in CHI to #30, the Capitol Ltd (SWC scheduled arrival in CHI is 3:20 PM, and CL scheduled departure is 5:35 PM)
