I just rode the Pacfic Surfliner from San Diego to Chatsworth, north of Los Angeles. Chatsworth is where I lived from age 0 to age 11 from 1960 to 1971. I walked around for a few hours and got back on the same train, in the same seat and rode back to San Diego.
I must say that after becoming thoroughly discusted with Amtrak employees about five years ago, I quit riding Amtrak. Even though I am a life-long train fan. I thought I would give Amtrak another chance with this short distance trip.
The trip was wonderful. Every Amtrak employee who I came into contact with was polite, helpful, and friendly. And the train was clean.
There was only one minor glitch. One train was 40 minutes late. However, there was a huge difference from the previous times I have ridden Amtrak. This time, they were honest about being late. They announced every time we stopped for another train and let us know what was happening.
Amtrak gets and A+ for this train trip.
