A friend advises that lately the Capitol Limited and LSL have been routinely 5+ hours late. Shades of winter 2005-06? Does anyone have info re: what's going on?

For the most part, it remains freight delays on NS between Elkhart and Chi. Also contributing are the fact that LSL was turning in Buf all last week due to CSX derailment. And both left Chi 3-4 hours late a couple days ago due to last minute shops of equipment on both trains...

And then of course there was the trip on the Capital last week when an axle locked up on #30
near Waterloo which resulted in a 4-5 hour delay setting the engine off and the additional 3-4 hour delay incurred with outlawed crews etc.
