It's nice to know that there are indeed some compassionate and helpful AMTRAK employees, who would do something like this! My compliments to the conductor for doing the right thing at the right time........

There are many stories of Amtrak personnel going above and beyond the call of duty.
My favorite is the California Zephyr train chief (back when they had those) who leaped out of the train at a siding on the Colorado River after a passenger bent on committing suicide in the river. The chief plunged into the icy river after the passenger and wrestled him back to the bank.
I had the good fortune to meet him not long afterward and shake his hand.
