Sleeper prices on #21 & #22 have suddenly dropped dramatically; they are usually sky-high all the time. I wonder if they are adding another sleeper to the consist. I am looking at dates around end of January.

They also seem to have dipped on the City of New Orleans in the same time frame. Maybe Amtrak's fare bucket simply sees a lower demand at that time.

The same drop in sleeper prices happened on the Empire Builder about 3 or 4 years ago in January. I was so inspired I bought a deluxe bedroom MSP-Portland for about $125 over coach. All by myself, but I wanted to try a deluxe once. Day of departure was determined by day of lowest price. I happened into some unseasonably mild sunny weather in Oregon, so it was a delightful spur of the moment trip.

Well, it must have worked to stimulate sales! CHI-SAS went from presumably the lowest bucket of $118 to SOLD OUT on the date I was interested in, Jan 31. Shoot!
