Next Sunday I will arrive in Philadelphia around 10 am on a Regional from Baltimore. I will go to the opera, (Norma, Mr. Norman), at the Academy of Music at 2 pm and then take Keystone service at 7:10 on to NYP. My question is there a way to stash my one piece of carry-on size luggage at the station for those hours between 10am and 7pm? Lockers? Luggage check?

You have two options that I can think of...
One is store the bag at baggage counter, I think the fee is $3 or $5 for short term storage.
The second is when arriving in Bal, just check the bag as checked baggage thru to NYP and pick up in NYP when you arrive.

Why that's an excellent idea, MDRR! It never occurred to me to check it all the way to NYP. No muss, no fuss, no bother.

I'm concerned about checking the bag from BAL to NYP as many of the regional trains do not have chcked baggage anymore.
However, seems like #92, the Silver Star would pass through Baltimore after you depart and arrive in NYP about the same time you would be making your way back to 30th Street Station. I'd certainly check with Amtrak and see if you could check your bag through to NYP while you stop over for a healthy dose of culture in Philadelphia.

With the timeframe of departing Bal @ 9AM, you have at least 2 trains...20 and 92 that carry checked baggage and operate midday to NYP.
