The unbelievable has happened. We were booked for #11, roomette #6 using AGR points, car 1132. Upon check in we find we are upgraded to Bedroom B! I have died and gone to heaven!
Gil - this will probably spoil me forever.
We are about to leave the station and I note from Henry's wonderful site, that I should expect an ontime trip. See you later.

Miss Vickie my dear, you and Mr. Art DESERVE to be spoiled (it is no secret at this forum we know one another face to face).

We're "too late in life" to worry about all the "....spoil the child" rhetoric.

Congratulations on the upgrade! My wife and I have made about three trips in the bedroom accomodation now and hereafter I'm allowed roomette only when I travel alone!

Love the bedroom. We are about two hours late as of Martinez. A disabled freight during the night. Great weather and scenery. Some of the crew were with us on the northbound trip, seem like old friends by now. No Parlour Cars yet. Food has been adequate but not great.
Will look for Frank in SBA.

It appears Miss Vickie and Mr. Art are "gonna make it home tonight".

As of a few moments ago #11(17) is estimated to arrive Santa Barbara SBA 38ML. Hopefully their planned rendezvous with Mr. Frank will soon occur.

Indeed it did! Had a great meet with Frank and Norm. We stopped at SBA for about four minutes. Since we are currently 1 1/2 hours late I think they hope to highball it in to LAX. Will do more of a report tomorrow. Just a quick tidbit - we ran out of food. That always seems to happen to us.

That was fast, Vicki! We just got home and you'd already posted. I was determined to beat you to it but you won! It was great to finally meet you and Art.

We spoke with the dining car lead just as you were pulling out (7:47PM by my watch) and he said they had many more people eating than they expected. I'm assuming he meant people from the coaches since I think they count on most of the people in the sleepers eating.

We'll look forward to your trip report and I'll send you some of the pics from our cruise.

Best,

Frank (and Norm, too!)

Vicki, did I miss something or did you not explain why the upgrade? I know how you feel about the bedroom. We were upgraded to one a number of years ago and that really "spoiled"us. Now it's bedroom or nothing. Of course now with neither of us wanting to climb the "heights" we need the space of the lower in the bedroom.(so we can share)

Train Lady, the upgrade was apparently just luck, very good luck. We are now experencing bad luck. Twenty minutes from LAX the train went into emergency braking and we are stopped over the Hollywood Freeway. Then all power went off. I believe they are doing a physical check outside. Power now back on, good thing, it was getting hot. Crazy thing to occur after 1350 trouble free miles. Final report later.
