I may have to cancel my 2 zone roomette for 7/14 from ABQ - Orlando for DD & I.

Does anyone know what the penalties are? Do I lose the points? I've called in twice & gotten 2 different answers.

Thanks!!

If you have your tickets IN HAND, you need to call AGR tomorrow morning during business hours and get the address to mail them back (in Minnesota). Use FedEx or similar so that you can track the tickets and prove that they received them. Once they receive them, they will credit your AGR back 100%.

If you DO NOT have the tickets in-hand and they have NOT been sent/printed yet, call AGR in the morning during business hours and ask to cancel the trip so that you can get your points put back into your account.

Mom--

I found this on the AGR website.

Can I return an item if I change my mind after I redeem?

We are unable to accept returns after the completion of a redemption order.

From that I would assume that the best you can hope for is to be able to change your reservations.

If you have not reached the "completion of a redemption order" point (i.e., the tickets have been issued) you might have a chance of a redeposit.

As Smitty says, call Amtrak Guest Rewards tomorrow. And let us know what they say. Sometimes you might need to call a couple of times to get the answer you want.

I'm surprised that they are this strict. Most airline programs I'm familiar with will let you redeposit miles althought there is often a fee.

Just got off the phone w/ AGR again. Was told that as long as I call them by 7/13, get the info to mail the tickets back to them, I will get all my points back.

I will call again later as well. Yes, SBALAX,On their site it says no refunds..which is what I first saw. But, in the Terms & conditions, it says all points will be credited back for train travel..... it's buried way down there!

Confusing!!!!! And the 1st person I had talked to a couple weeks ago at AGR said no refunds, 2nd said refund if 7 days or more out.

Sounds good to me, Mom!

I make it a practice now to ask for the agent's name and also note the time and date of the call just in case.

It sounds as if they were just as confused as we were.

I saw the same thing in the T's & C's and thought my points were gone. The folks here on the forum set me straight and I now have mine back.

Good luck.
